Intensive Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power Across Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water supplies, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the G7 - in supplying protection systems and applying restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles damaged electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area experienced heavy assaults overnight. A minor died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The strikes succeed periods of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
